Boring Ben

Boring Ben is a game made during the Global Game Jam 2014.

The player has to control Ben from inside his head, and activate his childhood memories to get joy in his life.

Not my greatest achievement, but things were learned and fun was had!

Game Design

Childlike wonder:

When the player picks up a candy he is transformed back into their childhood, and the world becomes colorful and fun again. In childhood form the player can see more and move faster. This way its easier to dodge obstacles like cars. Of course the effect wears off after a while.

Purposely clunky can be fun:

Because the player plays as a little ghost inside of a humans head, and has to stand on pressure buttons to get the human to do things, the human moves very awkwardly and strange. I think the main positive take away from this game was it was fun to see how dumb the human looked.
